About Us

Rob Chambers, Velocity Co-Owner
I've been told I grew up with a fishing pole in my hands. Family moved to Utah from California in 1963. I was fortunate to have local fishing ponds and rivers within walking distance of my home. I think I spent every day in the summers walking east towards either a stream flowing down from Adams Canyon or Holmes Reservoir in East Layton. Sun up to sundown I was dipping a line somewhere.
I was introduced to Flaming Gorge by my Uncle in the late 60's and fell in love with it. Shortly after graduation from Clearfield High School, I entered the military and between active duty and Guard, spent 26 years serving the greatest nation on earth. During those years I've had the privilege of fishing some of the best waters on earth. I've chased salmon and halibut in Alaska, and many saltwater species from Florida to destinations around the world.
I've actively been chasing Kokanee Salmon at the gorge for about 30 years and every weekend is a new learning experience. The best part is experimenting with new lure creations and finding ones that seem to catch fish and sharing those with other fisherman I meet on the water and at the docks as well as sharing my knowledge and tackle with people new to Kokanee fishing. I can usually always be found fishing the waters around Buckboard early in the season and after mid June usually can be found at Lucerne Marina.

Corey Baker
Corey Baker is the passionate force behind Kokanee Krew Outfitters, a premier fishing charter based in Heber City, Utah. As the owner and operator, Corey has turned a lifelong love for fishing into a thriving business that serves anglers on some of Utah’s most iconic waters—Strawberry, Jordanelle, Deer Creek, Rockport, and Fishlake Reservoirs. Growing up in the Heber Valley, Corey spent countless days exploring local streams and reservoirs, chasing every species he could find. But it was the elusive Kokanee salmon that captured his imagination. Their unpredictable nature and the challenge they presented kept him coming back, line after line, year after year. That enduring fascination laid the foundation for what would become Kokanee Krew Outfitters, officially launched in 2020. Corey brings not only deep expertise, but also a contagious enthusiasm to every trip he guides. His knowledge of the fish, the reservoirs, and the techniques required to land trophy Kokanee is second to none. For Corey, every outing is more than just a fishing trip—it’s an opportunity to share a passion, create memories, and connect with the natural beauty of Utah.
Corey is supported every step of the way by his wife, Krista, whose encouragement and behind-the-scenes work have been a big part of the Krew’s success. Together, they’ve built a life rooted in the outdoors and the community they love. When he’s not on the water, Corey finds peace in the mountains, hunting and enjoying the rugged wilderness he calls home. Above all, he treasures time with Krista, their kids, and grandkids, who all live close by in the Heber Valley and remain his greatest source of pride and joy.
Corey’s story is one of passion turned purpose—a testament to following what you love and building a life around it. With Kokanee Krew Outfitters, he’s not just guiding fishing trips—he’s inspiring others to find their own wild, chase their dreams, and never stop believing.

Kaden Robertson
I was born and raised in Utah and have spent my entire life fishing its lakes and rivers. Flaming Gorge is where it all started for me, and it remains one of my favorite places to fish.
I have a deep passion for chasing trophy lake trout. It is a pursuit that requires immense patience and persistence, but the challenge of catching a true giant is what keeps me coming back. In 2021, I also began Kokanee fishing, which has quickly become another passion of mine. Chasing those "silver bullets" can be equally challenging and rewarding.
I am currently a fishing guide for Kokanee Krew Outfitters. Our goal is to provide clients with an unforgettable experience by putting them on fish and teaching them our techniques. For me, nothing is more rewarding than sharing my passion with others and helping them catch the fish of a lifetime.

Mark Damron
Raised in Northern California, Mark began fishing the lakes, rivers and streams at an early age. In 1996, Mark began the task of learning to target kokanee and trout utilizing the use of downriggers with the help of seasoned anglers and guides. After sever years, Mark began operating his own guide service specializing in instruction and the use of downriggers and sonar. At this time, Mark began participating in kokanee derbies and tournaments that help support the kokanee fisheries in California, winning or placing in many and becoming a Lifetime member of C.I.F.F.I. Project Kokanee in 2005. Around 2008, Mark was invited to become a staff member of Rocky Mountain Tackle Co. and soon after VELOCITY rods. Since that time, VELOCITY rods have been the only rods used in his guide and instruction business. Mark's VELOCITY rod of choice is the 7'9 red wrap (JMJ 792L). These rods have successfully handled everything from kokanee, lake trout to 15lbs. and even landlocked stripers. Having confidence in your equipment is vital, especially when operating a guide service and you definitely can't go wrong with VELOCITY RODS. Mark's home water is Union Valley reservoir located in the Crystal Basin of Northern California.

Colby Chambers
An angler's heart beats in time with the pull of the line, and for me, that rhythm has echoed across the waters of the West. From the sun-drenched coasts of Mexico to the rugged beauty of Canada, my pursuit of the perfect catch has been a lifelong journey. Yet, no matter how far I roam, my compass always points back to the emerald waters of Flaming Gorge, my home lake and the heart of my angling passion.
It's here, in the shadow of the fiery red canyons, that I’ve honed my skills and found my calling, the art of salmon fishing. There's a certain magic to Flaming Gorge, a thrill that comes with targeting the magnificent Kokanee Salmon that call these waters home. It's a challenge that demands patience, precision, and a deep understanding of the lake's secrets
My adventures have taken me to renowned fishing destinations across the continent. I've cast my line in many waters of the western United States, battled the powerful salmon of Canada's mighty rivers and depths, and explored the vibrant marine life of Mexico. Each location has offered its own unique set of challenges and rewards, teaching me new techniques and deepening my appreciation for the sport.
But it is the thrill of the chase at Flaming Gorge that truly defines me as an angler. The flash of a Silver flank in the clear, cool water, the sudden heart-stopping tug on the line, these are the moments that I live for. My specialty is targeting these magnificent creatures, using a variety of techniques from trolling with downriggers to jigging in the deep. Over the years, I've learned to read the water, to understand the subtle shifts in the seasons, and to anticipate the movements of the fish. Whether it's the early morning bite in the spring or the late-season rush as the salmon prepare to spawn, I am there, ready to test my skills against these worthy opponents
My passion for fishing has become more than just a hobby; it's a way of life. It has taught me the importance of conservation, the beauty of the natural world, and the thrill of the unknown. And as I continue to explore the waters of the West, I know that my heart will always belong to Flaming Gorge and the incredible salmon that swim within its depths.
